There are many great lakes in Texas to go fishing, hunting, or just spend the day on the water or on the shore. But one Texas lake is known for something else. Massive alligators. And recently, one hunter in Texas took down one of the largest alligators in Texas.

According to the Star-Telegram, the hunter who has not been identified due to request, set out on the Choke Canyon Reservoir on September 30th to find an alligator. And he sure did find the big one.

In fact, the Star-Telegram says the alligator that was killed might be the largest alligator hunted and killed in Texas history. The James E. Daughtrey Wildlife Management Area took to Facebook to post about five hunters, all of whom had successful hunts, but one of the hunters was able to take down an alligator weighing over 750 pounds. According to the Facebook post, the alligator was over 13 feet long.

All of the alligators that were killed were reportedly large, aggressive males. According to the Star-Telegram, rules for hunting alligators at Choke Canyon are pretty strict.

Rules for hunting alligators at the Daughtrey WMA are more strict than in other parts of the state, as there’s only one method that’s legally allowed. Hunters must first snag a gator using a hook and line, then shoot it with a shotgun — and only a shotgun, officials say.

It's an impressive hunt, but I'd want to make sure I was in a large, very large boat.
