HEARTBREAKING DISCOVERY

The incident, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, has prompted investigations by both the Beeville Police Department and the Texas Rangers. Authorities discovered the infant’s lifeless body in the car at a residence near East Flournoy and Saint Mary’s, with the grandmother holding her in her arms. The child had been left unattended in the vehicle since 8:30 a.m.

THOROUGH INVESTIGATION BEGINS

The Beeville Police Department has stated that no charges are being filed at this time as they gather sufficient evidence to determine if a crime has occurred. Beeville Assistant Police Chief Richard Cantu Jr. emphasized the importance of thorough investigation before any legal actions are taken.

“We make sure we have enough information that will fit the element of a crime for an offense before any charges are filed,” Cantu explained.

This tragedy marks the second hot car death in less than a week in Texas. Nationwide, there have been 27 such fatalities this year, underscoring a critical issue. With the intense heat persisting, Cantu urged vigilance:

“As the heat progresses or it gets hotter, we need to slow down and be more aware of who we have in the vehicle.”

Beeville resident Victoria Garcia, who experienced a close call with a child left in a car, shared preventive measures.

“If you always have something in your hand, put it behind you so you can check the back seat. Or put on baby music to remind you,” Garcia suggested.

Authorities also advise that if you see a child in a hot car, breaking a window may be necessary to save a life.
