WalletHub analyzed 150 of the most populated U.S. metropolitan areas and used several metrics to determine the rankings.
Texas Cities in the Top 10 Least Educated:
#10 Corpus Christi, TX: Corpus Christi finds itself at the bottom of the educational ladder, struggling with low high school and college graduation rates. The only thing this city might bring to the table is the Selena memorial, and it much else.
#8 Beaumont-Port Arthur, TX: The Beaumont-Port Arthur area shows significant gaps in educational quality and attainment, contributing to its low ranking. This area in Texas tends to find itself struggling and winds up on many unpleasant lists.
#3 Brownsville-Harlingen, TX: Brownsville-Harlingen faces major challenges in educational attainment, with a large portion of its population lacking higher education degrees.
#2 McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, TX: McAllen-Edinburg-Mission stands as the second least educated metro area in the nation, with critical issues in both educational quality and attainment.
