Street maintenance in Amarillo seems like a never-ending project. Some roads feel like they're constantly being worked on, while others feel like they've been completely forgotten about. There's always work to be done.

The City of Amarillo recently released an update regarding the current Street Maintenance Project taking place across town. If you haven't encountered any of this work yet, prepare yourself. It's likely going to impact your commute soon.

There is a map you can access on the City of Amarillo's website that gives you current information regarding street maintenance projects in town. It shows you which projects are scheduled, which ones have started, which ones will start in the next 48 hours, and which ones have been completed.

Looking at the map, construction woes are coming to a work commute near you in the very near future. Maintenance projects are about to begin on Bell, Wolflin, and more are scheduled for 45th and Georgia.

There are several current projects taking place at this time. Most of them are north of I-40 in Amarillo. You can check out the map for yourself on the City's website to see all of the projects that are ongoing or are scheduled.

How to Prepare as a Resident

You need to keep an eye out for doortags while the work continues. If crews are going to be on your street, you're going to need a plan for getting around.

For instance, if you need to leave your house while the work is taking place, it's suggested you park on a neighboring street. If you have deliveries coming to your home, they're going to do everything they can to make sure the delivery gets to you, but it might be easier to just try to schedule delivery for a different day.

As always, while all of this work is being done on roads across town, pay close attention in work zones. Slow down, and give crews space.
