The fall months in Amarillo, Texas, bring a lot of entertainment to the area. High school football is back. Halloween is right around the corner with events planned across the city.

If you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, compared to what we're used to, then you're in luck. This October sees the return of Cottonwood Faire to Amarillo.

Festival Details: When & Where

Cottonwood Faire is a Renaissance Faire and History Festival that will be held at Thompson Park on October 11 and 12 from 10 AM to 6 PM each day. It's no ordinary Renaissance festival, however.

This festival has an interactive storyline that weaves through the entirety of the fest. Not only do you get to eat, drink, and be merry, but you also find yourself in the middle of a tale of intrigue.

Choose Your Role: Factions & Quests

When you arrive, you'll swear allegiance to one of three factions. All three are trying to get control of "the realm," and you get to be a part of the story. There's an Adventurer's Guild where you start, then you seek out characters and accept quests from them.

As a fan of all things Dungeons & Dragons and a fan of any kind of RPG video game, this sounds like an insanely good time.

Shows, Contests, Costumes

There are events and shows that will take place during the fest. For instance, there's a strong man contest and The King's Arena, where knights will duke it out.
