Rodney Carrington is coming back to town, and it feels like a family reunion. The country comedian will perform at Buddy Holly Hall on Friday, February 14th, bringing his trademark mix of music, humor, and heart to the South Plains just in time for Valentine’s Day.

My connection with Rodney goes way back. In 1998, I received a CD called Hangin’ With Rodney. The cover showed a goofy cowboy sitting backwards on a bull — pure Carrington. The label clearly didn’t know what to do with it. There were no singles, no clean edits, just a raw, hilarious record. But it didn’t take long for people like me to realize how special it was. I made my own radio edits, and soon after, official versions followed.

Over the years, Rodney’s shown nothing but appreciation for the support. He’s one of the most genuine performers out there — the kind of guy who remembers names, laughs with fans, and never lets success get in the way of sincerity.
