Lubbock has tons of options for great eateries, particularly in certain categories- sometimes it seems like we have more Mexican and fried chicken restaurants than people to eat there.

What Is The Lubbock Restaurant Scene Missing?

Despite the high number of restaurants per capita, there are some types of cuisine that may be a little underrepresented.

There is only one African restaurant in town; however, it is a highly acclaimed restaurant that's been nationally recognized, so perhaps Vizo's is all we need.

You can read more about Vizo's here.

We also have relatively few Mediterranean restaurants, but again, the ones we do have are amazing, fresh, and delicious options.

And lastly, there isn't much soul food, but the Lee family does feed our souls (and our bellies to the brim) at Doc's Cafeteria and Bucket of Love, both locally owned and operated by the nicest people in Lubbock.

Is Lubbock Lacking In Italian Options?

It is somewhat surprising that Lubbock has so few Italian options. Besides chains like Olive Garden and Fazoli's, Lubbock only has three local Italian restaurants.

But like Vizo's for African food, the Italian we do have is stellar and worth celebrating. Why mess with perfection?

What is perhaps the most interesting thing about our local Italian options is just how different they are from each other. They all have a great vibe, just different. From urban and hip Downtown vibes, to classic Lubbock, and all the way to elevated "wear your best dress" dining.

Here's a look at Lubbock's local Italian options, which very well may be all we ever need.
