Little Rock Zoo Unveils New Exhibits Just In Time for Dollar Day
The Little Rock Zoo is celebrating the arrival of two highly anticipated exhibits just ahead of its annual Hiland Dairy Dollar Day this Saturday, July 12.
Isle of the Dragon - Komodo Exhibit:
Your Little Zoo is excited to introduce two juvenile Komodo dragons, Tiamat and Iroh, to the public. Located on the west side of the reptile building, the new exhibit offers visitors an up-close view of the world’s largest lizards as they grow over the coming years. The project was made possible through funding from the City of Little Rock, the Laura P. Nichols Foundation, and Hiland Dairy.
Komodo dragons are native to several Indonesian islands and can grow up to 10 feet in length and are known for their powerful ambush hunting. The species is classified as endangered, and the arrival of these Komodos comes through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan.
Hidden Corners of the World:
Uncommon Creatures is a reptile and amphibian exhibit featuring rare and colorful species from remote habitats around the globe. From vibrant frogs to elusive lizards, the exhibit highlights the vital role these lesser-known animals play in global ecosystems. It was funded through a gift from the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce in honor of Toad Suck Daze.
Both exhibits open just in time for Hiland Dairy Dollar Day, an annual event offering Zoo admission for just $1 per person. Sponsored by long-time Zoo supporter Hiland Dairy, the event is a favorite among Arkansas families and is expected to draw large crowds.
“These new exhibits give guests a rare chance to connect with extraordinary wildlife and learn about the importance of conservation,” said Zoo Director Susan Altrui.
