Have you thanked a volunteer lately?

The Commanding General of 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, Maj. Gen. Dana J.H. Pittard, and Army Community Services officials, in commemoration of National Volunteer week will host the Fort Bliss Annual Volunteer Awards Dinner. The event will be at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 26, at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center, East Fort Bliss. 

The theme for event is “Volunteers, Strengthening the Nation.”  The theme is a reflection of the devotion and commitment of the volunteer who stand strong behind our Soldiers and family, improving the quality of life and well-being for all in the community.

This award ceremony will recognize:
*       The Team Bliss Volunteer of Excellence (announced at the ceremony)
*       Fort Bliss Volunteer Brigade/Organization
*       Fort Bliss Outstanding Volunteer Soldier
*       Fort Bliss Outstanding Volunteer Youth
*       Fort Bliss Outstanding Volunteer Ambassador
*       Fort Bliss Outstanding Volunteer Partners in Education (PIE) Units
*       and Fort Bliss Outstanding Volunteer Family

As a special feature during the event a short play will be presented, entitled “God Bless the Volunteer.”

Additionally during National Volunteer Week, April 21-27, special events are scheduled. The events include “Manic Monday,” at Freedom Crossing-Grand Theatre, Monday, April 22, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event will include a free movie, popcorn, and prizes. Free child care will be available for those who register online with CYSS-Sign-up.

Another event, “What A Wednesday,” will be on Wednesday, April 24, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Resilience Center, bldg 250, Club Road. Don’t miss out on Free massages, makeovers, food, prizes and includes free child care, you can reserve with CYSS.
