El Paso Water Utilities customers get a gray trash bin and a blue trash bin that is serviced by the Environmental Services Department. You can get extra bins for $17 plus tax per month, but ESD says a recent count of their bins showed that there are 500 bins being used by customers who aren't paying for them.

The department will be holding a trash bin recovery drive this month, and are asking customers to drop off the containers at any of four Citizen Collection Stations located throughout the city. You'll only have to give your address when you return it.

Citizen Collection Stations:
Open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday

•Central: 2492 Harrison

•Westside: 121 Atlantic

•Eastside: 1034 Pendale

•Northeast: 4501 Hondo Pass (entrance off Stahala)

If you want to keep your unpaid trash bin, you need to call (915) 212-6031 to get your bill adjusted. You will be charged a monthly fee of $17 plus tax per bin. If you don't return a bin you're not paying for, the department will adjust your bill on their own.

If you have any questions about the trash bin recovery drive, you can call 3-1-1.
