El Paso Still Glowing 3 Months After Coldplay’s Sold-Out Shows
It’s been three months since Coldplay lit up El Paso with not one, but TWO sold-out shows at UTEP’s Sun Bowl Stadium, and honestly? We’re still recovering and so is our city’s economy, in the best way possible.
According to a new report from Destination El Paso, those mid-June concerts didn’t just give us goosebumps; they gave the city’s tourism industry a major glow-up.

Coldplay’s El Paso Takeover Just Brought in $6 Million
The report mentioned that the total spending that weekend hit a jaw-dropping $34.7 million, which is a 21% boost compared to the same weekend in 2024. Translation? Coldplay alone helped pump an extra $6 million into local hotels, restaurants, and shops.
And it wasn’t just El Pasoans singing along to “Yellow.” Nearly 13.4% of concertgoers came from out of state, while fans from across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona turned the Sun City into their weekend getaway. On average, visitors dropped about $171 per trip, with top spending categories being groceries, dining and nightlife, and retail therapy.
UTEP and the City of El Paso are calling the shows a record-breaking win. “El Paso deserves great events like this,” said UTEP President Heather Wilson. And the numbers prove it! Thousands of visitors, millions in revenue, and a big boost in the city’s reputation as a must-stop for global tours.
Let’s Continue Bringing Big Acts To El Paso:
After seeing how successful this concert was, I hope that other big names decide to bring their tours to El Paso. Specifically, Post Malone. But, that’s just my biased opinion.
