Joe Maldonado

Hey hey! My name's Joe "Froggy" Maldonado and I'm that deep, sexy voice you hear Sunday afternoons from 3 - 5 p.m.! I'm 23 years old, born and raised here in El Paso where I attended Jefferson High School (c/o 2010!) I graduated from UTEP with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies in the summer of 2015, and am currently still at UTEP this time going for my Master's Degree in Communication where I plan to graduate in 2017. I have been privileged to work in radio since I was 18, and am going on four years now here at KISS FM. I first became interested in the radio business when I was a freshman in High School, when I met a fellow DJ Personality at the time who told me I had the voice for radio. (My voice changed dramatically when I was in the 7th grade which led to my nickname "Froggy" my freshman year in high school. My friends and colleagues said it sounded like I had a frog in my throat and the name has stuck with me ever since) I soon got my first taste of live radio my freshman year at UTEP's public radio station where I still work at from time to time. I applied for an internship at Kiss FM where I was first brought in for the promotions department back in the late summer of 2012. I then started doing a lot of behind the scenes work like production, and then was given my shot on-air at KISS FM during the spring of 2014. I feel like being in radio is one of the best jobs ever, especially with all the concerts and events we have going on month after month, not to mention the kinds of characters you meet along the way. I'm very passionate and picky when it comes to my music, and I am always up to date with the latest songs and albums from my favorite genres like R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, and Dance/EDM. I'm a HUGE Aaliyah fan, I love her and her music, so much so that I have her tattooed on my arm. Speaking of that, I also LOVE tattoos! Started when I was 16 and haven't stopped since...my poor mother. So, if you're out at an event we're hosting and you see a kind of tall guy with ink all over his arms holding a mic or hanging out with the KISS FM crew, make sure to say hey!
