Alex’s Sun City Scifi Adventure
I ventured out to Sun City Scifi this morning and got re-united with my inner geek. Actually, that’s a lie, me and my inner geek were never really separated. The convention was a great experience and you don’t necessarily need to be a “geek” to enjoy it. Here are some highlights from my experience.
Sun City Scifi will continue on Sunday, March 16th.
Black Sheep Comics - located on the Eastside, the shop is owned and operated by women. Every 3rd Saturday, female customers save 15% on NEW comics.
Fashionably Geeky – Get in touch with Ashley, and she’ll let you pick out a comic themed fabric of your choice and make something cute for you. Men, Ashley can make a pretty sweet tie for you!
Toni Darling, Cosplayer – Toni truly is a darling and donates half of the proceeds she earns to a local charity.
El Paso Roller Derby – The Roller Derby Season is officially on. Catch them on the 22nd at Nations Tobin Park in Northeast

Vaboom Studios – Some local boys living their dream. You can help them get their film, “Tales of the Fantastic” made by going to www.kickstarter.com/profile/vaboomstudios
MarieDoll , Cosplayer – She not only makes her own costumes but she sings too!
Able Gamers Charity – An awesome organization who advocates greater access to digital media to the disabled community and helps them gain access to the technology that will give them the ability to participate in gaming experiences.
Spiralmind – Ben Perez and Matt Rothblatt, both local and co-creaters of the Spiralman Comic Book series have some pretty exciting things in store for their title. Spiralmind will actually be featured in the new Johnny Depp Movie, “Transcendence.” They also have a live action Spiralmind movie that was screened at Sun CityScifi.
