Well, we are all witnessing history, but the kind of history we would rather not be a part of: The government shutdown just hit day 37 which is officially the longest in U.S. history! Because of this historic milestone things are about to get even messier for travelers.

Federal officials announced a 10% cut in flights at 40 major airports starting Friday, Nov. 7, as funding for key aviation workers continues to dry up. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the plan will roll out “systematically,” though he didn’t share which airports would be hit first.

The shutdown is now bleeding into everyday life, with hundreds of thousands of unpaid federal employees, closed offices, and now delayed flights. Even lawmakers trying to fly home are stuck in the same long security lines as the rest of us.
