Watching fireworks go up into the night sky are an Independence Day tradition, and El Paso won’t be for a lack of places one can park their car and watch bombs bursting in air Thursday night. But it isn’t the only way to celebrate the Fourth. Various events are planned around town; some, like Music under the Stars, will feature patriotic music while others, like the La Viña Country Picnic, offer other forms of musical entertainment and family fun. Here's your guide to 4th of July Celebrations around El Paso:

Music under the Stars Patriotic Concert and Firework Spectacular - Pack a picnic and take the family to the Chamizal National Memorial for an evening of patriotic music with the El Paso Wind Symphony. A 3-D “firework spectacular” will follow the concert. Admission is free. More Info

Ardovino’s Desert Crossing Fourth of July - The restaurant at One Ardovino Drive in Sunland Park promises a great view of the Western Playland fireworks display, as well as “explosive” drink and food specials, and the disco funk of Jessica Flores & the Crosstown Trio on the patio. ‘Pop Goes the Fort’ – The El Paso Symphony Orchestra annual performance of patriotic and Broadway pops music at Fort Bliss’s Biggs Park. A laser light show will follow. Admission is free and the public is welcome. Vendors will be on site selling food, drinks and beer. More Info

El Paso Diablos Baseball – The Diablos host the Laredo Lemurs, followed by the “biggest, loudest, and brightest fireworks in town.” The War Eagles Air Museum will provide a pre-game flyover during the singing of the National Anthem, and the traditional 7th inning stretch will feature God Bless America. Fourth of July Family Festival - Harvest Christian Center, I-10 to Redd Rd to Helen of Troy, will celebrate Independence Day with carnival rides, food vendors, DJ Aslan beginning at 5 p.m. and fireworks at the conclusion. Admission is free. More Info

La Viña 4th of July Country Picnic - The La Union, New Mexico winery will host its annual picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Live By Request will provide the musical entertainment. Food, water, wine and wine margaritas will be sold on site and tents and tables will be set up, but you’re more than welcome to bring own picnic and lawn chairs – but no coolers. More Info

Under the Sun Tour featuring Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth - Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, and Gin Blossoms with special guests Vertical Horizon and Fastball celebrate the golden age of nineties pop rock ‘n’ roll at the Socorro Entertainment Center. Admission is free. The music starts at 6 p.m. with a fireworks show between headliners at around 9:30 p.m. More Info
