This is a bizarre story and it hit close to home.

Robin Appleton 46, of Las Cruces walked into the Sear's in the Mesilla Valley Mall this past Tuesday and like any other patron looked through clothes and selected a shirt to try on.

Robin then proceeded into the dressing room of the store but what she did next was not like any other customer.

Robin set the shirt on fire in the dressing room and left it to burn. The shirt did burn up but the fire did not spread to any other part of the dressing room or the department store.

Fire investigators reviewed the stores surveillance camera footage and recognized Appleton as the suspect. She was arrested and is being held at the Dona Ana Detention Center on a cash-only $2,000 bond.
