Downtown El Paso will get a lot cooler beginning mid-November. 93.1 KISS-FM has learned this year’s Winterfest event is anticipated to get underway beginning November 18 and run through the first week of January, 2019.

For 51 consecutive days, the Arts Festival Plaza will become a Winter Wonderland of glimmering lights and family-friendly activities. An outdoor ice-skating rink will once again serve as the focal point of the Winterfest holiday celebration, and popular attractions such as a vendors Winter Village, the Kringle Kafe, and a life-size snow globe for picture taking are expected to return as well.

In the two short years since its inception, Winterfest has become one of the city's top holiday themed events and year 3 promises to be even more festive.

As we previously reported, the City of El Paso is considering modifying the kick off date of the Celebration of Lights tree lighting and the San Jacinto Plaza holiday lighting to coincide with the opening of Winterfest 2018.

Officials with El Paso Live, which puts on Winterfest, and the City of El Paso have not made an official announcement regarding their respective events, but are expected to do so in the coming weeks.
