The calendar may say December, but the weather has been saying barely autumn. But that is all about to change.

ABC-7 says the coldest air of the season so far will arrive Tuesday night and there is the possibility for black ice Thursday morning. If you are new to the city, you should know, El Pasoans aren't good with winter weather and driving, so be prepared.

ABC-7 says there will be mild weather into Monday, but things begin to change Tuesday. There will be a cold front coming through town on Tuesday between the late morning and mid-day which will drop our highs to the low 60s. Then late Tuesday night there will be a big cold push, and at the same time, Pacific moisture will come in from the west. There should be widespread, light rain across town most of the day Wednesday. The rain will let up early Thursday morning, and temperatures will drop to near freezing or just below between 3 a.m. - 8 a.m. Thursday.

The water on the roadways should evaporate before we drop below freezing, but lower lying spots on the roadways could freeze and form black ice.

Make sure you bring in your pets and plants, and wrap your pipes before the freeze. We shouldn't be below freezing for long but it's best to be ready for it.
