This Thanksgiving, the City of El Paso Environmental Services Department encourages residents to recycle their cooking oil and grease at any of the City’s Citizen Collection Stations beginning Saturday, November 26, 2016.

The Citizen Collection Stations will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 25, but will resume normal operation on Saturday, November 26. Regular operating hours for the Citizen Collection Stations are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday at the following locations:

  • 1034 Pendale (East)
  • 121 Atlantic (West)
  • 4501 Hondo Pass (Northeast)
  • 2492 Harrison (Central)

The Citizen Collection Stations do not accept cooking oil from businesses or commercial customers. Also keep in mind that pouring any amount of used oil down the drain or in the garbage, can harm wildlife and damage sewage systems.

Other items that the Citizen Collection Stations accepts include: household trash, recyclables, bulky items, tires, used electronics, and household hazardous waste.

The Environmental Services Department reminds residents to Recycle Right by placing paper, plastics, and metals (aluminum and tin) in their blue bin; the items should be free of food or liquid.
