What to Do With El Paso Watermelons
So in preparation of the 4th of July and bring TRUE Sun City glory back to the watermelon, here are a few creative ways to step outside your same ol’ summer watermelon routine. All thanks to Epicurious.com! Happy 4th, everyone!
- Turn it into a SALAD, Cut up some cucumber, tomatoes, and avocados (cause avocados makes EVERYTHING better, mix with little olive oil and touch of salt…
- Gives CIVECHE a total different vibe…In a large glass or ceramic bowl, gently toss the shrimp and scallops with the lime juice and lemon juice. Mix in onion, cucumber, tomato, jalapeno, serrano, cilantro, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Cover bowl, and chill 1 hour in the refrigerator, until shrimp are opaque!
- So when your making ANY sandwich take OUT the tomato and use slice of watermelon…gives a WHOLE different KISS-sensation!
- Lightly brush your watermelon on both sides with the olive oil. Grill over high heat until those grill marks have formed and the melon is slightly softened, about 5 minutes. Remove, sprinkle with sea salt and a little fresh ground pepper.
