Watch the Shocking Dash-Cam Footage of Deadly Roadside Shootout

Police in Oregon released dash cam footage from a shootout between a highway patrolman and a 34-year-old former Army Reservist who was pulled over for speeding.

In the shocking video which was recorded on August 29th, reservist John Van Allen is seen pulling his car over and getting out before walking towards the cop and opening fire on him. The policeman shoots back, and although you can’t tell from the video, hits the reservist in the chest. Allen is seen driving away, but was later found dead about a half-mile down the road.

What’s even more shocking is that Allen was on a road trip with his three children at the time. None of the kids were hurt, and there’s no word as of this post as to why Allen chose to fire on the officer.
