Walmart Apologizes for ‘Fat Girl Costumes’ Section on its Website

I have to agree, I’m not sure labeling costumes for women with more to love as "Fat Girl Costumes" is the best approach either.

The retail giant was forced to apologize after getting a lot of heat on social media over the weekend for a section on their website featuring women's plus-sized Halloween costumes classified as "Fat Girl Costumes."

A spokesman from Walmart issued a ‘my bad,’ saying, "This never should have been on our site. It is unacceptable, and we apologize.”

It's not clear how it wound up on the site as-is, but the prevailing theory is that it might've been a joke by the web developers while they were building the Halloween section of the site and no one remembered to change it before it went live.

The "Fat Girl" section has since been renamed “Women's Plus Size Halloween Costumes”
