The City of El Paso released video of the 2013 shooting death of bodybuilder Daniel Saenz yesterday under orders from the Attorney General's Office. An El Paso police officer shot and killed a handcuffed Saenz at the Downtown jail in March of 2013. According to news reports at the time, Saenz had been arrested earlier that day after allegedly attacking an off-duty police officer at Del Sol Medical Center. He had been taken there after displaying strange behavior at an Albertsons supermarket on Yarbrough.

The El Paso Times filed an open-records request in February after a grand jury decided not to indict the officer involved in the shooting, and the city repeatedly refused to turn over surveillance video citing, among other things, privacy issues. The AG rejected the city's reasons forcing the release of the above recording.
