Vagina Monologues Raises Money for El Paso Non-Profit Organizations
In 1998, Ensler launched V-Day, a global non-profit movement that has raised millions for organizations working to end violence against women.
V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against all women and young girls.
Now this Obie Award-winning play will donate 100% of the proceeds to the Center Against Family Violence, Centro Mujeres de la Esperanza and Sexual Trauma and Assault Response Services (STARS).
About V-Day:
V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.
The show introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it.”
