UTEP is kicking off military appreciation week with 5 days of activities to honor its nearly 1600 military-affiliated students.

The events will take place April 28–May 3 at sites around The University of Texas at El Paso and Fort Bliss.

The major highlight is the Block Party at the High Noon Music Series that begins at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Union Plaza. The event will include the presentation of colors, singing of the national anthem, a special cake-cutting ceremony, and an opportunity for students to sign “thank you” postcards that will be sent to Fort Bliss soldiers stationed overseas.

The week’s events will include an open house at UTEP’s Center for Accommodations and Support Services from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in room 106 of Union Building East.

There's also a weeklong Campus RECON scavenger hunt that encourages participants to visit various UTEP offices around campus. Those who visit every office will be eligible for prize drawings.
