The Kardashians, the Real Housewives of Whatever City You Watch, Taylor Swift – seems like there is a trend toward drama at any cost for so many people, and not just celebrities. Social media gives us all a chance to post things about our lives that we probably would never say out loud, but have no problem hitting publish on.

So why are we all drama mamas?

Scott Frankowski, doctoral student in The University of Texas at El Paso’s Department of Psychology, researched our need for drama and even created a test for it. That research was published this year in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.

Frankowski says when your life is public and you get more recognition for crazy stunts, “the need for drama fuels that and makes you more successful.” Frankowski says part of his research that shows that men like Kanye West also court drama is proof that it’s not only women who want drama in their lives. Frankowski’s studies about drama were conducted on UTEP students and people from across the U.S. He said that the studies found that young people are a little higher on the need-for-drama scale than the older participants.

You can take the NFD (Need For Drama) test online. I took it and it turns out, I have a high need for drama.
I’m sure everyone is very surprised at that revelation!
