Parking at UTEP isn't always easy, but university officials are trying out something new to help make it easier to get around the campus.

The campus's 60-plus parking areas have been renamed to reflect their position based on street locations and the buildings or campus function they are closest to. There will be new parking lot signs to identify each lot and structure at the entrances. They should be up before the start of the fall semester. The lot numbers will be in sequential order moving north and east.

UTEP officials say they hope the changes will "provide campus visitors and new students, faculty, and staff with a more intuitive and descriptive area to park."

Officials say that renaming the parking areas is one of the final pieces of the campus transformation plan that included changing the way the campus looked. Now they hope that naming the parking areas will help everyone when they visit and park on campus.
