UTEP will be kicking off their Veterans Appreciation Week with a breakfast along with activities that will be helpful and informative beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015.

UTEP is planning some great activities for their Veterans Appreciation Week which includes:

Breakfast

USAA’s Brian Parks, who is an Army veteran, will share his motivational message during UTEP’s Veterans’ Appreciation Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in the El Paso Natural Gas Conference Center. Parks is the technical director of information technology for USAA, a Texas-based Fortune 500 diversified financial services company that also is among the nation’s top companies when it comes to hiring military veterans. As part of his talk, he will also present UTEP’s Military Student Success Center with a check for $7,500 to continue serving the University’s estimated 3,000 military-affiliated students.

Building a Resume

USAA representatives will share how members of the military may successfully translate their skills and experiences into the right words for resumes and job interviews during the Career Info Session from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in Room 410 of the University Library. Speakers also will discuss what to wear and what questions to ask of possible employers.

Career Fair

Approximately 20 businesses to include technology and investment companies will participate in a Veterans Resource and Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Centennial Plaza. The 1st Armored Division Band from Fort Bliss will perform starting at noon outside the Union Dinner Theatre entrance that faces the plaza.
