This is a story that just melts your heart, and you can pitch in!

Matthew Flores is 12 years old with a mind that's thirsty for knowledge. But not only for knowledge -- for the adventure a good book can give his imagination. Postman Ron Lynch was delivering mail in Sandy, Utah, when he saw Matthew sitting outside, reading newspaper ads. Matthew asked Lynch if he had any extra junk mail that he could read. When asked why he didn't go to the library, Matthew states that he didn't have the money to afford a bus pass to get to the library. Matthew's story struck a chord with Ron Lynch, who himself is an avid reader. He told WABC-TV in Utah,

"You know, I started reading at a very, very early age. My mother instilled reading books in me...at 12 years old, he didn't want electronics. He didn't want to sit in front of the TV playing games all day. This kid just wanted to read."

Ron Lynch decided he was going to help Matthew get more books to read. He posted a photo of Matthew on Facebook, with a plea for his friends and family to send some books so Matthew could spend more time reading.

Facebook friends... This is Matthew Flores. Today while delivering mail to his apartment complex, I saw him reading ads,...

His request was answered, and the post went viral. Matthew is now receiving books from all over the world, and even extra gifts to help the family. And now you know everything you need to know to contribute, too!
