Greg Louganis is the first man to ever win two Gold Medals in diving in back-to-back Olympics, so he knows a thing or two about respecting the water. Louganis wants others to respect the water, so he is going to speak at the Smile Center for Kids Respect the Water Dinner Thursday, August 14th, at 6:00 p.m. The event is being held at the Camino Real Hotel in downtown El Paso, and will feature a silent auction. The event is being put on by the Drowning Prevention Coalition of El Paso. The group was started in 2010 after 5 people drowned in El Paso. The group does community outreach to help educate people on how to safely be around water.

As part of the festivities surrounding the Respect the Water Dinner, Louganis will be taking the mound at the El Paso Chihuahuas game to throw out the first pitch. If you would like more information on the Respect the Water Dinner, you can call 241-2484.
