Seems that drugs are not the only things smuggling their way across the border, cheese can be considered contraband too.
Well, only if it exceeds more than 10 pounds. Such as the case of the cheese smugglers who were caught trying to smuggle more than 200 pounds of the good stuff.
From the picture it looks like the cheese was Asadero, you know the kind that you make quesadillas or chile verde con queso?
Officials in Santa Teresa say that after the smugglers were caught they received a fine of $300 and that all the cheese was destroyed! What? Was it really destroyed? Or is there a huge chile con queso party happening somewhere and we weren’t invited?
Maybe they could have donated the stuff…seems like such a waste. Thoughts?
