Fergie’s performance at the NBA All-Star game was the talk on Twitter last night—and not for good reasons.

The “M.I.L.F. $” singer took to the court at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday (February 18) to deliver what fans were anticipating would be a powerhouse execution of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in the manner of past patriotic performers like Pink or Beyoncé, fingers crossed.

What listeners received instead, however, was what many are calling the most ear-splitting version of our country’s national anthem yet. Cameras panning through the crowd of spectators and players on the court revealed more than just smile-cracking reactions, some attendees couldn't keep their composure at the 42-year-old star’s effort to jazz up the song.

From jarring struggle notes to her melodramatic stage presence, watch the clip, above, to see why Twitter has dubbed Fergie's version the "Star Mangled Banner."
