TRAFFIC ALERT: Construction At UTEP Will Close Several Streets On Campus

If you are planning on driving around the UTEP area today, you should know about some construction that will make things a little tougher to get around.

New traffic control gates on University Avenue will temporarily close several streets on campus.

The entry gate at University Avenue accessed through Sun Bowl Drive will be closed today.

The entry gate at University Avenue and Oregon Street will close beginning Dec. 17, and only limited traffic flow will be allowed to the Hilton Garden Inn at that entry point.

Traffic will be detoured to the Rim Road and Hawthorne entry gates.

Randolph Drive or (Cardiac Hill) will open to inbound traffic Dec. 17.

Dormitory Road between University Avenue and the Fox Fine Arts Center will be inaccessible to cars, but pedestrians will have temporary pathways available.

Dormitory Road is scheduled to reopen by the first day of UTEP's spring semester Jan. 22.

Construction is expected to last 30 to 45 days.
