If you’ve driven through I-10 in west El Paso between Sunland Park and Executive Center you've no doubt noticed the structure jutting up into the sky.

For those who may not know, what you're seeing is the netting for the three-level driving range that is part of Topgolf, a high-tech driving range and entertainment complex.

The venue was expected to open late last year, but unspecified issues prevented that from happening. But good news lovers of golf and swanky lounge areas with wall to wall TV sets:

The long awaited much anticipated opening of Topgolf El Paso is near.

An exact opening date has not been announced, but according to the company's Facebook it will be in "early February."

I recently received an invitation to an exclusive media preview event scheduled for January 24 so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they opened their doors soon after. Like, say, Super Bowl weekend? Super Bowl 52 is February 4, and that is definitely in "early February."

An exchange on the Topgolf Facebook page also supports my theory that it will open its doors on or about Feb. 2. It was from someone inquiring about celebrating a birthday there on Feb. 3. The venue replied that although it was booking events for February, "the 5th and on is when an event can be booked."

I reached out to Topgolf for comment, but they were very coy saying only that they will be announcing the opening date later this month. Stay tuned. I'll definitely keep you posted.

Topgolf El Paso will feature more than 100 climate-controlled hitting bays, 200 HD TVs, a full-service restaurant and bars, and a rooftop terrace with a fire pit.

The 65,000-square-foot facility is located within the Montecillo development on North Mesa at 365 Vin Rambla Drive.
