The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department will be closing three pools over the next couple of weeks for repairs.

The Therapeutic and Instructional Aquatic Center, 9031 Viscount Boulevard, is currently closed and will remain closed until Friday, Aug. 7, 2015. Until the re-opening, patrons may attend the Hawkins Aquatic Center, 1500 Hawkins Blvd. or Lionel Forti outdoor pool, 1225 Giles Rd.

The O’Rourke Aquatic Center, 901 N. Virginia St., is currently closed and will re-open on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015. Two alternative pools for patrons is Armijo Aquatic Center, 911 S. Ochoa St. or the Memorial Aquatic Center, 3251 Copper Ave. Nations Tobin outdoor pool will also be closed for repairs on Monday, August 10, and will remain closed through Saturday, August 15, 2015 and residents can use the Veterans Aquatic Center on 5301 Salem Drive in the meantime.

The City of El Paso operates 14 aquatic centers, 10 of which are indoor pools and open year-round. The four outdoor aquatic centers are open from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. General admission is $2 for adults (18- to 59-years old), $1 for youth (0 to 17 yrs. old), and $1 for seniors (60 yrs. old and up).

On May 19, El Paso City Council unanimously approved a vision plan which will supplement El Paso’s current stock of traditional and competition pools by building neighborhood spray parks and regional aquatic facilities including water slides, lazy rivers, rock-climbing walls, water buckets, water playgrounds and other features.
