As  the upcoming new school year looms closer and closer for kids and parents in both the El Paso and Ysleta Independent School District, now is a good time to start  planning your back-to-school shopping strategies around the sales tax holiday, and the 93.1 KISS-FM Back to School Expo.

This year, the opportunity to save money on a variety of back-to-school items is weekend, August 17-19.

In addition to clothes, footwear and some backpacks priced under $100, the law also exempts most school supplies priced at less than $100.

In general, you get a sales tax break of about $8 on every $100 you spend. For a complete list of what qualifies and what doesn't, follow THIS LINK.

JUST ASKING: Do you prefer to do all your back-to-school shopping before the Sales Tax Holiday to avoid the mad rush of people, or are the savings worth the hassle?
