FRIDAY:

Let Freedom Sing Free Summer Concert Series - Country music star Lee Brice returns to El Paso to headline the third concert in the Freedom Crossing free music summer series. The Chris Baker Band from Las Cruces will open the show. 7 p.m. at Fort Bliss’ Freedom Crossing’s event lawn. Free. The public is welcome; early arrival is encouraged. Movies on the Lawn – UTEP’s annual summer film series. This week’s featured movie is the original “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to Kidd Field, off of Glory Road next to the Sun Bowl. Free admission, free parking and portable restrooms provided. Movie starts at 8:30 p.m. More Details

Alfresco! Fridays – The 11th season of the weekly outdoor music series continues with Frontera Bugalú. 6 p.m. Arts Festival Plaza between El Paso Museum of Art and Plaza Theatre. Free. No outside food or beverages, or pets allowed. 534-0665

FRIDAY – SATURDAY:

‘Viva El Paso!’ – The outdoor musical drama chronicles the 400 year history and cultural evolution of the El Paso region. Colorful costumes and musical production numbers set against the backdrop of the Franklin Mountains highlight the summer extravaganza. 8:30 p.m. in the McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre. SATURDAY:

‘Arrival: The World’s Greatest Abba Show’ - El Paso Symphony Orchestra presents the music of ABBA featuring Arrival, one of the world’s most popular ABBA show bands. 8 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre. Tickets: $30, $45, $60 and $75. More Details

National Day of the Cowboy – The El Paso Museum of History Presents the 4th Annual National Day of the Cowboy. Events include square dancing, Charros, kids activities and storytelling, and living history characters and gunfights reenacted by Six Guns and Shady Ladies, Paso del Norte Pistoleros, Old West Thunder and The Wild Bunch. 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the El Paso Museum of History, 510 N. Downtown Artist and Farmers Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts and regionally grown produce in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. Farmer’s Market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing – The annual “producers only” market featuring area farmers, backyard gardeners and artisans selling organic and pesticide-free vegetables, locally-made goat cheeses, natural free range chickens and eggs, native plants for home and yard, fresh-baked breads and salsas. Mayapan Farmer’s Market – The Annual Mayapan Farmers’ Market continues at Cafe Mayapan. Fresh, local produce and menudo will be available. 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Café Mayapan, 2000 Texas Avenue.

Dancing In the City – The outdoor dance/concert series includes a dance lesson at 7:00 p.m. followed by a live music performance from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. In the Arts Festival Plaza between El Paso Museum of Art and Plaza Theatre. SATURDAY - SUNDAY:

Las Cruces Tour de Beer – The 2nd Annual beer-lovers festival highlighting more than 100 beers from around the country, plus live music, arts and crafts, and food vendors. 12 noon to 7 p.m. at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds. Tickets $15 at the gate. More Details

SUNDAY:

Music under the Stars – Pack a picnic and take the family to the Chamizal National Memorial for an evening of music and dancing under the stars. Free. 7:30pm to 9:30pm. This week, dance and listen to local disco favorites Fungi Mungle. More Info
