El Paso Events - Things To Do This Weekend

Here’s what’s going on in and around El Paso this weekend, September 20 – September 22. Some events are free, some will cost you a few bucks:

FRIDAY:

La Union Maze - The 13 acre cornfield features a farm animal corral, cow train and other family activities, plus tractor-pulled wagon rides to the pumpkin patch, and “the best maze in the area”. 5 to 10 p.m. at 1101 Highway 28 in La Union, N.M., next to Zin Valle Winery. Oktoberfest - The German Air Force Air Defense Center will host its final celebration at Ft. Bliss. The event will feature authentic German beer made especially for Oktoberfest, spotlight German food, and include entertainment by the Original Bavarian Brass Band from Germany and the German Air Force Schuhplattler dance troupe. 6 p.m. in Building 747, Carter and Pleasonton roads on Fort Bliss. Alfresco! Fridays – Live music by local bands outside in the Arts Festival Plaza located between the El Paso Museum of Art and the Plaza Theatre. This week, blues from Austin Jimmy Murphy. 6 p.m. Free admission. No outside food or beverages, or pets allowed. More Details

Friday at the Fire – Live music by local bands set against the ambiance of the Freedom Crossing outdoor fireplace. 6- 11 p.m. Free. This week, Ribo Flavin. DJ Darrin kicks the night off at 6 p.m.

Downtown Ghost Tour – El Paso Ghost Tours will take you inside downtown’s most haunted and historical buildings and conduct full paranormal investigations. Two walking tours, 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Meet at Leo’s Mexican Restaurant, 315 E Mills Ave. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door, discounts available. More Details

Movies in the Canyon – Blockbuster movies shown on an inflatable screen in the picturesque McKelligon Canyon Amphitheater. Showtime 8:30 p.m. Free admission, concessions available (no food or beverages may be brought in). Tonight's movie is The Amazing Spider-Man. More Details

El Paso Symphony Orchestra Presents ‘Heart of Gold’ - New conductor Bohuslav Rattay will be leading performances of two Tchaikovsky works with guest pianist Vadym Kholodenko. 7:30 p.m. in the Plaza Theatre. Ticket prices vary, discounts available. More Details

Boba Fest - Sun City Sci Fi special event featuring Daniel Logan, who portrayed young Boba Fett in “Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones” and is the voice of Boba Fett in “The Clone Wars” animated TV series. The event will also include video game tournaments, costume contest, and appearances by local artists and vendors. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Camino Real Hotel, 101 S. El Paso. Admission is $5. Downtown Artist and Farmers Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts and regionally grown produce in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. Farmer’s Market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing – The annual “producers only” market featuring area farmers, backyard gardeners and artisans selling organic and pesticide-free vegetables, locally-made goat cheeses, natural free range chickens and eggs, native plants for home and yard, fresh-baked breads and salsas. Mayapan Farmer’s Market – The Annual Mayapan Farmers’ Market continues at Cafe Mayapan. Fresh, local produce and menudo will be available. 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Café Mayapan, 2000 Texas Avenue.

SUNDAY:
