The Most Requested Holiday Gift for the Fifth Year in a Row is …

This Christmas you can go crazy looking for sales, then fighting the crowds at the mall. Or, you could just be a lazy Lima bean and make all your friends and family happy at the same time. How you ask? Get them all a gift card! According to the National Retail Federation, that's what most people really want anyway.

The NRF says gift cards remain the most requested holiday gift for the fifth year in a row. Their survey concluded 58 percent of people say they'd like to receive a gift card this year with department store gift cards the most popular, followed closely by restaurant cards. Gift cards, however, are not without their detractors. One in five of those surveyed say they won't be buying them for anyone this Christmas, mainly because they feel they're way too impersonal.
