One of the best movie musicals ever made was the stunning 'The King and I' starring Yul Brenner and Deborah Kerr. The movie was made in 1956 and tells the story of King Mongkut of Siam who hires an English widow as a governess to tutor his many children and help his country become more of a world power.

There are so many wonderful things about this movie - Yul Brenner could have been a caricature of a bombastic ruler who thinks women are useful for only taking care of his needs and having his children, but he is so much fun to watch as he realizes that he has met his match in Deborah Kerr's Anna Leonownens character. She is feisty and intelligent and never lets him forget that she is not one of his wives. He comes to fall in love with her and even comes to see her as his equal.

Can you tell I love this movie?

If you've only ever seen this movie on tv, you will be amazed at how different it looks and sounds on the big screen. Check out 'The King and I' at these El Paso theaters beginning this Sunday.
