Thanks for the wonderful memories…

On Monday the El Paso Zoo announced the death of Sunny, the iconic California Sea Lion that was a resident at the Zoo for the past 26 years.

Sunny had been feeling under the weather and was pulled from the exhibit while monitors kept a closer eye on him, but unfortunately did not make it due to his age related medical issues.

Sunny was a remarkable Sea Lion who was actually born at the El Paso Zoo back in 1986 and became an ambassador of conservation, teaching visitors about recycling.

The Sea lion exhibit will remain open were guests will continue to see Sushi, the zoo's 14-year-old sea lion, during daily presentations at 10:50 a.m. and 2:50 p.m.
