Does your kid like to write poetry? Then make sure they submit their work to the El Paso Public Library as part of their annual Youth Poetry Contest.

The contest is in its 27th year and is open to El Paso area students from 1st through 12th grade. Students can submit their original poems to be judged in separate grade levels and language. The poems will be judged on originality, creativity, clarity, and spelling.

Each grade level will have three winners. There will also be two honorable mentions from each library branch. There will be an awards ceremony for winners and honorable mentions. The students will be able to read their poems to an audience. The winners poems will also be published in an official poetry contest booklet.

The Library is accepting entries through Saturday, April 22. There is more information about the contest on the El Paso Public Library website.
