Chihuahuas Win Season Opener – Hear The First Pitch Of The Game!
It was a night of firsts in Reno last night.
After all the controversy and all the fighting over the downtown ballpark, the El Paso Chihuahuas finally took the field for the first time as El Paso’s first Triple A baseball team.
Among the firsts was the first pitch of the game. We were listening last night on our sister station, 600 ESPN, and caught this call. It sounded like something out a 1930s movie!
The first score of the game came, appropriately enough, in the first inning of the game. Reymond Fuentes, the Chihuahuas leftfielder scored that historic run. From there, it was a clear shot to a 7 – 5 victory over the Reno Aces.
The Chihuahuas will be on the road for almost a month. They’ll be in Reno for the remainder of a four game series. After Reno, they’ll head to Tacoma to take on the Rainiers in a four game series April 7 – 10, then move on to Tucson where they will ‘host’ Reno at the stadium there April 11 – 14.
On April 28th, they will come home and take the field at the Southwest University Park in downtown El Paso for the very first time. You can listen to all the games on our sister station 600 ESPN.
