Latin Grammy nominees and local El Paso band, The Chamanas will be joining the musical lineup at the Mexican Food Fiesta in September.

The Chamanas who were nominated at the 2016 Latin Grammy’s for Best New Artists will take part at the Mexican Food Fiesta on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at San Jacinto Plaza.

The Mexican indie band who’s fusion sound bridges the border cities of El Paso and Juarez have performed at SXSW and several other music festivals including opening up for the Mexican alt-rock band Zoe and Portugal. The Man.

The Chamanas will be opening up for Portugal. The Man when they head to El Paso on Friday, October 13, 2017 performing at the Plaza Theatre.

Back in May of 2015, The Chamanas were asked by Portugal. The Man to cover their single Purple Yellow Red and Blue from the album Evil Friends in Spanish. Soon after, The Chamanas covered the band’s latest global smash hit Feel It Still.

Through their musical journey to bridge the gap between all border cities, The Chamanas remain humble and hope that they can influence and touch as many people that they can by leaving an indelible mark with their music.

Not only will The Chamanas perform both the Spanish versions of Portugal. The Man’s hits but their original material as well, merging two cultures on the border of El Paso and Juarez with their music at this year’s Mexican Food Fiesta.

The Mexican Food Fiesta will host plenty of entertainment with folklorico dancers, mariachis, including world class mariachis, Los Arrieros. The family friendly event will also feature a mercadito, loteria, plenty of Mexican food and treats, a Chuco Art Competition and much more. Admission at the gate is $3 per person or free when you pick up a free pass at any El Paso Metro PCS location.
