The Body of a Missing Chapin High School Has Been Found

18 year old Edgar Alfredo Vargas has been missing since last week. Today, his body was recovered from a valley in Colorado.

Vargas was a senior at Chapin High School.

It's not known how Vargas' truck ended up on the valley floor, or how long he had been there. Vargas called his mother from a gas station in New Mexico on Thursday, but wasn't heard from again. Media outlets in Phoenix are reporting that Vargas had family members living there, and was supposed to be going to a friend's prom in Colorado when he went missing. A search for Vargas began on Friday. Authorities say his pickup wasn't visible from the highway, and was only found after a helicopter search was done Tuesday.

An autopsy will be done, but Vargas' death is believed to have been an accident. Our condolences go out to his family.
