Thanksgiving Without Turkey?

Ahhh Thanksgiving! A time for family, friends, and tons of food!
But would Thanksgiving be Thanksgiving without turkey?
This was the conversation I had with a friend the other day.
His wished he could make grilled lobster and shrimp scampi. Yet, he feared the backlash he’d get from his family expecting the traditional thanksgiving dinner.
Would lobster and shrimp be just as meaningful as turkey and mashed potatoes?
In my opinion my friend should make whatever his heart desires as long as you are with family and friends, Thanksgiving shouldn’t be so much about what you serve but just to give thanks!
What alternatives would be just as good if not as comforting as a turkey dinner?
