We hear every day about our troops fighting for our freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Please help us say 'thank you for your service' to soldiers who fought two wars long ago with one last mail call during an 'Honor Flight'.

Living in El Paso means living in close contact with the military and their families.  For the past 10 years, we've seen troops deploy from Fort Bliss to fight for our freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan, but fifty local veterans of WWII and the Korean Conflict fought for our freedom in the 1940's and 1950's, and they also deserve our thanks.

The fifty veterans will be given a trip of a lifetime on October 2nd, when they will fly to Washington D.C. to visit, for the first time, the memorials dedicated to their service.  Honor Flight of Southern New Mexico is providing the trip for these brave men.

While these men served in combat, they anxiously awaited mail from home.  For that reason, the Honor Flight team would like to give them one last mail call.  They would like these men to know how much their service means to us, all these years later.

Please take a moment to write a letter or note of thanks to these veterans for their service.  A single line would be ok, a simple, "Thanks for your service to our country", or a more detailed letter if you would like.

Jill Gomez will be collecting all letters and notes, and each man will get an individual folder with the letters on their return flight from Washington D.C.  These men fought for us, and they deserve to know that they are not forgotten.

You can mail a note or letter to Jill Gomez, 9420 Chantilly Dr., El Paso, Tx, or attach your letter in an e-mail to jillgomez@sbcglobal.net.

If you are interested in greeting the veterans as they leave and return from their trip, here is their itinerary:

Leaving El Paso International Airport, October 2nd, 2013, at 4:15 a.m.

Returning to El Paso International Airport, October 4th, 2013.  Be at the airport by 9:40 p.m.

It would be nice to see a crowd of people welcoming these heroes home!
