Thank the Lord! Agreement Reached, Real Refs Back on the Field Tonight
Monday night’s ‘Fail Mary’ call was apparently what it took to finally convinced the NFL that replacement refs was a bad idea. After “a day of marathon negotiations,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that the real refs will be back on the field starting with tonight’s Ravens/Browns game.
The tentative eight-year deal will be ratified over the next two days, and it sounds like the bad call heard ’round the world got them a pretty good deal. Their current pension plan will remain in place for five years before switching to a 401(k)-like contribution plan, plus they’ll get a four-percent raise, along with 2. 5 million to split amongst themselves to make up for the games they missed this year.
