Texas Volunteer Firefighter Responds to Accident, Discovers It Was His Family in the Car
According to KTRK, Aaron Von Riper discovered that a head-on collision near Riverside, Texas involved his wife and son.
The report says when Van Riper approached the mangled vehicle, he discovered it was his family inside. He told reporters there was nothing left of the car. Miraculously, however, they both were alive.
His wife was ejected and his son was still pinned inside the vehicle. KTRK reports that she had a broken pelvis, while the 7-year-old son had a broken arm and leg.
Van Riper said: "Once I saw my son, I started going into a little bit of panic mode." He was able to maintain his composure, and both were transported by helicopter to a hospital in Houston. Both are expected to recover from their injuries.
