Beginning this week the Texas Gas Service will require some temporary lane closures of Alameda Street which will last for a little over a month.

The Texas Gas Service will begin utility relocation work that will require some temporary lane closures along Alameda Street that will last approximately five weeks and will be located near the following intersections:

  • Alameda at Vocational
  • Alameda at George Orr
  • Alameda at Davis
  • Alameda at Flicker
  • Alameda at Ange
  • Alameda at Yarbrough

The Alameda BRIO Rapid Transit System (RTS) project will offer El Pasoans a high-quality transit system, which will connect the Mission Valley to Central and downtown once it is constructed. The transit project will stretch across approximately 14 miles and will include all the services and amenities that are found on the recently constructed Mesa RTS such as 60-foot articulated buses, a frequency of 10 minutes (peak service) to 15 minutes (off-peak service), landscaped stations that are spaced about a mile apart, and the ability for the busses to lengthen the green traffic signals.

Traffic detours and control measures will be set in place throughout the closures but keep in mind that work schedules, detours and lane closures may change due to weather and other unforeseen events.
